In December 2023, Lawrence hit the headlines following an ankle sprain injury in a 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, December 4.

The former Clemson quarterback was injured with roughly 6 minutes remaining in the game after Walker Little stepped on Lawrence’s right ankle.

In the immediate aftermath of his injury, Lawrence sat on the turf for several moments as teammates attempted to help him up.

After attempting to leave the field himself, he fell in pain and slammed his hand on the turf. A video later showed Lawrence being helped off the field.
