The 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings have been released and the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has been named the best university in Ghana, first in West Africa, and fourth in Africa.

The announcement was made in the Times Higher Education annual rankings for 2023.

The University was named the best university in Ghana, the best in West Africa, the fourth best university in Africa, and the best university globally for research influence in the 2022 ranking.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 feature 1,799 universities from 104 countries and regions, making it the most comprehensive and diverse university ranking to date.

The results that were used for the table are from 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators and these indicators accesses a university’s performance in four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

This year’s ranking examined over 121 million citations from over 15.5 million research publications, as well as survey responses from 40,000 scholars worldwide. In total, approximately 680,000 points were collected from over 2,500 institutions that submitted data.

This year’s league table, which is trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments, and industry experts, reveals how the global higher education landscape is changing.
