According to a post on his verified Instagram profile, Black Coffee has been in a plane accident and is receiving treatment at a hospital.

The incident occurred on his flight to his show at MUTE, a club in Mar del Plata, Argentina, on Sunday, leaving him with injuries. No further details are available at this time.

“Black Coffee was involved in a severe travel accident on a flight en route to his scheduled show in Mar del Plata,” the statement posted on his account on Wednesday reads.

“The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries. We can confirm that he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team”

The statement continues; “In respect to his privacy, we kindly request understanding and patience from the media and his fans. Despite the challenges presented, Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well!” the post concludes.

In 2022, Black Coffee became the first South African artist to win the Best Dance/Electronic Music award at the Grammys for his album, Subconsciously.

Prior to his accident, he last updated his Instagram on December 30, with a carousel of photos to sum up the past year. “2023 is a year I’ll never forget. Looking forward to the new year ahead,” the caption reads.
