After the 2022-23 season, Mainoo was named among the United team squad for their pre-season in the United States. The youngest played the first two matches before picking an injury against Real Madrid which sidelined him for several months after the new season began.

On 26 Novmeber 2023, he made a return from injury, starting in an away match against Everton. The game under 3-0 in favor of Manchester United, and although his teammate Alejandro Garnacho stole the headline for his bicycle kick goal, Mainoo won the Man of the Match.

Since his return, he has became an integral part of the team. He came off the bench and made his UEFA Champions League debut on 29 November 2023 against Galatasaray, a match which ended 3-3. He scored his first senior goal against Newport County in the FA Cup.

A couple of days later, he made a Premier League away start against Wolverhampton Wanderers and scored a 97th minute goal, which is his first EPL goal. His first Old Trafford goal came against bitter rivals Liverpool in a 2-2 draw in the Premier League.
