Lucy Spraggan is an English singer-songwriter who was a contestant on The X Factor in 2012, and she is the first contestant in the show’s history to break into the Top 40 singles and albums before the live show even aired, with the independent album Top Room at the Zoo.
After the show, Lucy Spraggan signed a recording contract with Columbia Records, and she has released a total of seven studio albums. Lucy Spraggan sang Maroon 5’s “Moves like Jagger” at the bootcamp but the performance was described as “clumsy” and “messy”. She returned to the stage with a combination of songs that she loved and meant a lot to her. Tulisa then said that she wanted to hear one of her songs so Lucy Spraggan decided to sing “Tea and Toast”, saying that the song was about a real couple. After performing the song, she shed tears as she received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges.
She joined the show as one of three singers selected by her mentor Tulisa. In Week 4, Lucy Spraggan was sick so she automatically moved to Week 5. On November 3, she decided to drop out of the competition because she felt it would be unfair to get an extra free ticket for the next round, as she still too sick to compete.
In August 2022, Lucy Spraggan announced performances in the UK and Ireland in spring 2023. In late 2022, it was announced that she had signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Music record label.
