Reports coming in from the US suggests the Pope Francis and president-elect Joe Biden spoke on phone yesterday with the Pope congratulating him on his win over president Donald Trump.

Biden, who is believed to be a Catholic won the November 3rd election which was held in the US with over 270 electoral votes although it’s not ‘officially’ confirmed.

The incumbent president, Donald Trump is currently challenging the results of the election in court and an official announcement will be announced next week.

A spokeperson from the Joe Biden Transition Team stated;

“President-elect Joe Biden spoke this morning with His Holiness Pope Francis.

The president-elect thanked His Holiness for extending blessings and congratulations and noted his appreciation for His Holiness’s leadership in promoting peace, reconciliation, and the common bonds of humanity around the world.

The president-elect expressed his desire to work together on the basis of a shared belief in the dignity and equality of all humankind on issues such as caring for the marginalized and the poor, addressing the crisis of climate change, and welcoming and integrating immigrants and refugees into our communities.”
