Nigeria and Ghana must wait for next year to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which has been delayed until 2022 because of poor results on matchday 4 of qualifiers.

Ghana, needing a draw or win to secure an early qualification, suffered a shock defeat at Sudan while Nigeria’s Super Eagles played out a goalless draw with Sierra Leone, five days after they drew 4-4 after taking a 4-0 lead against the same opponents.

The two countries could not join Senegal, Mali, Tunisia and Algeria as the first nations to qualify for the tournament scheduled for Cameroon.
