These Gospel artistes in our writeup defied our expectations to live an exemplary lifestyle worthy of ambassadors of God as they were caught in various scandals.

In the end, we started questioning their credibility and scratched our heads in disbelief after we saw at first hand the lean skeletons in their dusty closets.

Let’s see below how our favourite Ghanaian gospel artistes made headlines for the wrong reasons.

1. Obaapa Christy

Formerly known as Christiana Love, Obaapa Christy was once hit with a scandal which became the talk of the town. Her love life was seen as perfect until she and her husband stormed a radio station to accuse each other of infidelity. At the peak of her public feud with her former husband, the multiple award winning artiste accused Pastor Love Kweku Hammond, General Overseer of the Life Power Miracle Church that she tormented her during their marriage which lasted for nine years. She also insisted that Pastor Love is a fake man of God who raped her sister. ‘Pastor Love raped my younger sister who was staying with us. He threatened to kill the girl if she speaks the truth but she told my elder brother, Kwame, and he came for her and sent her to our hometown,’ she revealed in an interview. Her husband on the hand also accused her of sleeping around with married men in Germany.

3. Brother Sammy

Brother Sammy is unarguably the most controversial Gospel artiste we have ever had. He has been accused of song theft, selling of alleged fake HIV medicine and many others. His recent controversy was the one he alleged that Cecilia Marfo was having extramarital relationships. He also accused Cecilia Marfo of sleeping with her own driver the very day she claimed she was delivering him (Brother Sammy) from the shackles of occultism. Brother Sammy made this disclosure in a post he posted on social media. ‘You slapped me and later called me an occult and now you have been exposed by your associate pastor. I don’t have any issue with Cecilia Marfo but she had bad intentions that is why she can’t release a hit song. She is getting crazy and also sleeps with her driver. She has been exposed’, he wrote.

3. Ernest Opoku

Ernest Opoku made headlines for the wrong reasons when she fornicated with actress and producer, Gladys Mensah Boaku aka Nayas. He was disgraced by Nayas on so many platforms, with allegation that he is wholly immersed in juju which enhance his music career. Nayas said Ernest Opoku is a fake Gospel musician contrary to how he portrays himself through his song ministrations.

After the humiliation, Ernest asked for forgiveness. He further asked the public including all Christians to pray for him to endure future temptations. According to him, the fact that he has made a mistake does not mean the Lord has forsaken him. ‘I made a big mistake by fornicating with NAYAS and I’ve sought God’s face for forgiveness… I plead with Pastors, Christians and my followers to forgive me. I’m human, I’ve sinned, I ask Ghanaians and my fans to forgive me and pray for me,’ he said.

4. Lady Prempeh

The fine-looking gospel musician was in the news some few months ago for going blonde. She initially stated there was nothing wrong with her blonde hairstyle but after sometime, she admitted she was going through some difficult situations which affected her emotionally. When her fans complained about her new look and drawing her attention to the fact that it’s unbecoming of Gospel artiste, she explained herself in an interview with Peace FM, stating:

‘I first of all want to tell my fans to be patient with me and its not like I haven’t seen or heard their comments. However, it is part of the job and if you are under management, unless they tell you to go naked which doesn’t glorify God but just a blonde hairstyle, I don’t think it is too bad a thing,’ she stated.

Asked how long she is going to keep the blonde hair, Lady said, ‘From the look of things, we wanted to just shoot the video with it but from what people are saying; they like it so I might keep it on a bit longer. Some people even want me to keep it forever.’

5. Cecilia Marfo

The powerful gospel singer was alleged to be having extramarital affairs with other men with one being her driver. Although she came to deny these allegations, this controversy will never depart from the minds of Ghanaians. Recently, it emerged that the singer who is now a prophetess spits into the mouths of her church members in the name of deliverance. This was made known by anti-false-prophet campaigner Kennedy Agyapong. According to Kennedy Agyapong, Cecilia Marfo knows she is doing some evil things all in the name of God, and she should stop or else, he would expose her the more. The lawmaker said the ‘Afunuba’ hitmaker does many evil activities including; spitting in the mouths of her church members, slapping them amongst other things.
