Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has slammed Nigerians who frown on the Igbo accent.
According to Yul Edochie, when a Chinese man or an Italian man speaks English, the Chinese accent or the Italian accent is heard clearly but people don’t complain. He questioned why the Igbos are trolled or mocked whenever they speak English with the Igbo accent.

“The Chinese man speaks English with a Chinese accent. Same with the Italian, etc. But you’re cool with them cos they are white. Then your Igbo brother will speak his English with an Igbo accent. And you laugh at him, ‘oh he’s too Igbotic’. Is he supposed to be Portuguese? Are you ok?”
