Popularly known as ‘Afrobeats Badman’, Kelvyn Boy has managed to win the heart and love of Ghanaians with his Afrobeat songs and one of the few artists in Ghana who promoted the genre.

Speaking in a recent interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM, Kelvyn Boy stated that the Afrobeat genre is the only genre putting Africa on the map right now.

Kelvyn Boy expressed his joy in the acceptance of the Afrobeat genre in Africa as the only genre that is promoting the continent and its talents.

He also said that Ghanaian artists have not forgotten about Highlife which is the prime source of the Afrobeat genre but it has been fused with other genres making it one dubbed ‘Afrobeat’.

“We have not left Highlife behind. You can not do Afrobeat without Highlife because that is the rhythm and when you read about Afrobeat it says it is the combination of West African music such as ‘Juju’ music from Nigeria, Highlife, American funk but on cannot brand himself as a funk artiste but an Afrobeat act”, he said.

Kelvyn Boy also attested to the fact that Nigerians are doing well when it comes to music because they attach some level of seriousness to their craft. He said that would be better for Ghanaians to learn from them since we cannot beat them in the field.
