Legendary highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has revealed that highlife music act Akwabaoh Jnr is better than Kuami Eugene and all the other new acts in the music industry.
Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has disclosed that Akwaboah Jnr is one of a kind and is the only one doing proper highlife music genre as compared to Kuami Eugene and the new musical acts in the music industry. He emphasized that Akwaboah does indigenous authentic music so far.

Speaking in a radio interview, with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast-based Kastle FM, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah lamented over how some of the new music acts in Ghana are changing the highlife genre. He stated that the highlife music is gradually fading out from the system because of little airplay given to highlife music on the radio.
“As for Highlife the one who is currently holding up the genre is Akwaboah Jr. Kuami Eugene is trying his best including the other guys but they’ve renamed theirs as Afrobeats,”
“They are all doing well but most people see us the veterans to be old so much of the Highlife mixes don’t include our songs. Even though this new crop of artists are enjoying their reign and I respect that but I also had my time in the past that’s why I’m referred to as a legend.”

“If you play our old or new Highlife songs together with the new guy’s people will remember that we’re still alive and even when we’re dead our songs still live on forever. We have some amazing songs that if you play alongside that of the current guys it will be very interesting than always neglecting us for only the new crop of Highlife artistes”.
