Food is an essential substance which helps in the growth of the human body and also the development of the brain.

Speaking on the health show “Nkwa Hia” on Adom TV, Clinical Nutritionist Doctor Benjamin Nuako explained that the types of food determines the physical growth and the development of the brain. According to Dr. Nuako, eating well helps to improve the health status of human beings and also boost the immune system of the body.

Doctor Nuako stated that some foods have negative impacts on children between the ages of 6-17. Some foods can cause emotional stress amongst children and can also cause deterioration in the health of human beings. “Desist from consuming fast foods because it contains an amount of cholesterol which destroys one’s health” he added.

The oppositional defiant disorder is a health issue in children which is caused by some foods some parents fed them with. Giving examples of some foods which affects the brains of children, Dr Nuako mentioned food colour, excessive intake of sugar and salt, food flavours and colours.

“People who have mental issues end up tattooing their bodies and wear indecent clothes in the name of fashion but little do they know that they not mentally stable” he said.

Dr Benjamin Nuako stated that natural foods like kontomire, cocoyam, potatoes, tomatoes, groundnut paste, red oil, cassava leaves etc and above all fruits can help in the physical growth and the brain development.
