An Alabama woman is accused of using stolen checks from her grandmother and fraudulent documents to buy a $500,000 house and furnish it, according to court records.
Olivia Muse Hollon, 42, of Rogersville, was arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of theft by deception, two counts of forgery, and one count of identity theft, The News Courier of Limestone County reported. She was released after posting bail on Thursday, the newspaper reported.
According to Limestone County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Michelle Williamson, Hollon used the documents to buy the home, which was valued at approximately $500,000 and then stole checks from her 93-year-old grandmother to buy nearly $10,000 worth of furniture.
Deputies executed a search warrant at the home, where all of the stolen furniture was recovered, WAFF reported.
Court records also reveal that Hollon was arrested in 2019 and indicted three months later by a Limestone County grand jury on two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, The News Courier reported. According to the indictment, Hollon used a fake letter purportedly from an area bank, saying the financial institution would release $170,000 to her, the newspaper reported.
The other document involved a Decatur attorney managing a transaction for the same amount, according to court records.
Her arraignment was postponed several times and last set for January 2021, court records show.
