Speaking in an interview on Okay FM with Abeiku Santana on the Ekwansodwodwo segment, Kwabena Kwabena while explaining his reason for backing off all award schemes in Ghana stated that he cherishes his works more than awards.

He said that most award schemes in Ghana are designed to celebrate and showcase new and upcoming musicians in Ghana, neglecting the older folks who paved the way for the new crop of musicians.

He cited that someone like Kojo Antwi should not be allowed to submit his works before being nominated and winning an award on any platform in Gha a because he is a legend.

He made an example with the FIFA draw, saying that the officials of the tournament will never allow new footballers on the platform because they have not contributed massively to the football game and maybe lack the experience.

Kwabena Kwabena also said that award schemes in Ghana have lost their relevance, thereby generating all sorts of negative comments about their measures after their award shows.
