Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday 5 September, 2020 went to inspect the Tamale interchange which is the first ever interchange to be built in the Northern Region.

The Vice President visited Tamale as part of his tour in the region. and went to inspect the project of which he said His work is still in progress.

“I started day-3 of my Northern regional tour with a visit to Tamale to inspect the progress of work on the first Interchange in Northern Ghana. I was pleased with the progress. “The Veep said.

The interchange is funded under the Sinohydro facility deal with the Chinese government. A deal that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) strongly oppose. President Akufo-Addo lunched the $2 billion Synohydro Master Support Project Agreement in April 2019.

The one kilometre long interchange will link the Kumasi road through the Point 7 road, the Central Taxi Rank and Central Market intersection with the Melcom and Bolgatanga roads when completed. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

The government is building the interchange with the goal that it will reduce turnaround time of doing business on the stretch and also improve urban traffic in Tamale.
