Whenever the subject of Ghanaian Comedy comes up many are quick to associate some level of negativity towards it saying the industry lacks good contents to keep it competitive but Award Winning Ghanaian Comedian Lekzy  Decomic,  has pointed fingers at the Ghanaian media for touting and praising Nigerian comedians  and not doing enough for those in Ghana.

Interacting with Chelsy Sey on Ryse and Shyne on Y97.9fm in Takoradi, Lekzy Decomic expressed his disappointment in the media for not telling their success story but are rather quick to spread the word when they have a bad day. According to him even “A list” Nigerian Comedians sometimes have bad days during programs they headline in Ghana but the media go silent on that but would rather publish heart breaking headlines for Ghanaian Comedians.

“Nobody can tell the Ghanaian Story in a comic way better than Ghanaian comedians so focus on our acts and help us build a solid industry. Just because one Ghanaian comedian didn’t do well on one occasion doesn’t mean all Gh Comedians are bad”

Lekzy Decomic stated that unless the Ghanaian media change the narrative and focus on publishing the good works of the comedians in the country the industry might soon die.

“We don’t pay publishers to trend our bad news when we have a bad day why can’t they channel the same energy when they do great. This is killing us as comedians and as a country. If we don’t accept our comedians and help them grow who else would?”

Although he admitted it will take a while for GH Comedians to be accepted by all he admonished the media to help make the industry buoyant.
