Reports reaching us indicate that a coup has allegedly happened in Burkina Faso.

As a result, the president of Burkina Faso, President Roch Kaboré is said to have been arrested by the soldiers who are involved in the coup.

This was made known in a recent post made by the Africa Facts Zone on the popular social media platform, Twitter.

The post reads;

“There’s an ongoing coup in Burkina Faso. President Roch Kaboré has been arrested by the soldiers involved in the coup.

He has served as the President since 2015. He was the Prime Minister from 1994 to 1996 and President of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso from 2002 to 2012.”

As reports are growing wild, authorities in the capital, Ouagadougou, have denied that there has been a coup in the country.

This is the second coup that has happened in West Africa in less than six months. The first one was in Guinea and it happened on On 5 September 2021, when the President of Guinea, Alpha Condé was captured by the country’s armed forces after gunfire in the capital, Conakry. Special forces commander Mamady Doumbouya released a broadcast on state television announcing the dissolution of the constitution and government.
