Per a report by Legit.ng, Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has appointed some persons in Nigeria’s entertainment industry into a committee following the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

A committee of Creative industry stakeholders has been formed by President Buhari to look into the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the arts and entertainment industry.

The three industry stakeholders are comedian Ali Baba, singer and event promoter, Dare Art Alade, legendary actor Segun Arinze.

Ali Baba was made the chairman of the committee and Anita Eboigbe of the News Agency of Nigeria was assigned the secretary for the committee.

According to the report, the committee is tasked to advise the Federal government on how to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the industry.

Speaking at a meeting on May 6, 2020, in Abuja, the Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, emphasized that the committee was ‘to help the government assess the effect of the pandemic on the different industries and also advise them on how to handle job losses as a result’.

He said: “We have, therefore, decided that instead of addressing this problem piecemeal, we should do so holistically for a more positive outcome.”

Other industries represented in the committee as representatives of the photography, fashion, hospitality, publishing, and travel sectors have been told to submit their report.
