Nigerian musician, David Adeleke has also come to pay his respect to the late Jerry John Rawlings.

In an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive on Friday 13th November 2020, Davido shared the crazy experience he had with Rawlings back in 2014.

He said that he once met him at a fuel station when JJ Rawlings was buying something from the shop. He was shocked that JJ walked freely without any security guard following him.

He said that a personality like that should have had protection wherever he goes. He then realized that JJ is admired and loved by Ghanaians and because of that, he can walk freely and not feel threatened.

Davido said;

“J.J Rawlings is a legend. My crazy experience with him was in 2014 when I saw him get out of his car to buy from the shop at the fuel station with no security detail.

“I was shocked but it made me realized how Ghanaians loved him and how he also loved and trusted his people to the extent that he walked freely in town and he felt safe knowing he is loved.”

The late Jerry John Rawlings was highly respected by Ghanaians and despite whatever has done in the past as a ruler, Ghanaians still regard him as one of the few that helped in maintaining peace in the country.
