Renowned Nigerian singer David Adeleke, professionally known in the entertainment circles as Davido has opened up on the early days of his music career.

David recounted how he skipped a whole year of studies just to follow his passion which is music.

In an exclusive conversation with sensational Nigerian media personality and music executive Ubi Franklin in an Instagram Live video, Davido revealed that he defied his father’s will for him to complete his education.

Giving reasons for his action, the ‘Assurance’ hitmaker intimated that he did not want to be a burden to his father who was the provider for the family both nuclear and extended.

According to the father of three, he nearly broke his father’s heart after his father discovered he skipped school.

“When I started music, I didn’t think it was going to go big, I was doing it just to do music.

“Over time, money started coming.

“My daddy was a disciplinarian, I didn’t even know my dad had that much money.

“I was on the run for like three months, cause my dad found out I was not in school for a whole year.”
