Following comments passed by gospel artiste Cwesi Oteng who said a musician does not necessarily need a hit or continually have hit songs to stay relevant, music maker Appietus born Mr Appiah Dankwa has added his two cents on the issue.

According to the man in the mix, he says one can still do other things to keep him afloat in the limelight even after their hit song has become a thing of the past.

“You always need a hit to become relevant but you can stay relevant without a hit after you are known; now you are known so you can do other things to stay relevant, there are a lot of artists who are doing a lot of projects that keep them in the eye of the public”.

Cwesi Oteng reportedly said:

“The purpose of an artist is not to make hits for people to sing and dance to and then the next moment, they just forget about it”.

“Obviously, that should not be the way of any worthy artiste. Till now, there are timeless songs that people appreciate which may not necessarily hit at the time,”

Appietus opined that artists combined other things to make people remember them and sited Okyeame Kwame as a typical example of such.
