Dwayne Johnson is Rebooting "The Scorpion King" Movie with Universal Pictures

Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson popularly known as “The Rock” is planning of relaunching “The Scorpion King” movie together with Universal Pictures and Seven Bucks Productions.

“The Rock” who played “The Scorpion King” character in the movie “Mummy Returns” at the start of his movie career, wants to reboot the movie from ancient times and will instead “be a contemporary take set in modern times”.

The Rock stated;

The Scorpion King was my very first role ever on the silver screen and I’m honored and excited to re-imagine and deliver this cool mythology to a whole new generation. I wouldn’t have had the career I’m lucky enough to have had it not been for The Scorpion King and I’m thrilled that we at Seven Bucks Productions can help create those same opportunities for other hardworking actors today. I believe Jonathan Herman will put in the hard work to deliver a fantastic script for our global audience”

Dany Gracia of Seven Bucks Productions speaking on the project stated;

The original Scorpion King was a crucial catalyst helping to catapult us into the world of film. So far, the difference between the first “Scorpion King” movie and the new one is that, “The Rock” will not be starring in the movie but rather will be part of the Production.

So a new actor will be playing the “Scorpion King” role.
