The Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Nicholas Osei known well as Kumchacha has advised Ghanaians to support the electronic levy.

One of the controversial debates in the country is the electronic levy policy. The finance minister Ken Ofori Atta during the reading of the “Agyenkwa” Budget disclosed that the government would be introducing a new tax levy into the system called the e-levy.

The e-levy foresees an additional 1.75 percent tax on the transaction value that will result in a total transaction cost of 2.75 percent. This became a debatable topic in Ghana, especially on social media. A few days ago, a group of NDC youth and some leaders in the NDC party hit the streets to demonstrate against the e-levy policy.

Reacting to the e-levy conversation, Kumchacha in an interview with Fiifi Prat on Kingdom plus that it is advisable for every Ghanaian to pay tax. Quoting Mathew chapter 17, 24, 25, and 26., Kumchacha stated that Jesus spoke about tax and also paid taxes.

Explaining the difference between tax and tithes. He said tithes are paid in church and there’s a tax which Jesus Christ at a point paid.

“Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s,” He quoted Jesus Christ saying on tax.
