Residents Of New Takoradi, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region witnessed a devastating event where fire razed down a building in the area, killing all of it three occupants on Good Friday.

According to Ekow Ansah, an eyewitness who narrated how it happened to Ekow Gyan of Empire 102.7 FM, the fire was caused by the premix fuel the family had stored in their room. The mother, Mena Mansa 28, her two children Paa Kwesi 3 and Obaa Yaa who was eleven months old, lost their lives to the fire.

He said;

“All of a sudden we saw flames coming from the house so we quickly rushed to the scene to help put off the fire but we had called the fire service earlier, we heard Mansa shouting for help but the bathroom was at where the fire was coming from, there was little we could do,”

The fire service quickly responded to the call by coming in to put out the fire and retrieving the remains of the families.

The Western Regional Minister, Kobby Okyere Darko, was spotted at the scene, sympathizing with the family of the deceased. He said;

“Albeit, we are told their death was as a result of the premix fuel, I have asked the Ghana National Fire Service to investigate the real cause of the fire and I have also assured the family of my support,” 

The remains of the family has been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional hospital, awaiting autopsy.
