According to the lawsuit, Donald Trump is suing these social media giants for hiding Section 230, an internet law in the United States that protects tech companies from lawsuits over content moderation decisions.

Donald Trump claims Facebook, Twitter and YouTube didn’t respect the First Amendment right to free speech when they banned him from these social media platforms. He stated they “indefinitely banned the sitting President of the United States for exercising his constitutional right of free speech.”

In a news conference from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the former US president stated he’s going to make sure these tech companies are held accountable for their actions.

Trump is asking for the judge to order the tech giants to restore the accounts of him and others in the class and to prohibit the alleged censorship going forward. They also want damages and to declare Section 230 unconstitutional.

Recall Donald Trump during his last days of office as the president of the United States faced a lot of criticisms after he alleged that the 2020 Presidential Elections were rigged in favor of the current incumbent president Joe Biden.

About 3 million of his supporter stormed and took control of the iconic Capitol building whiles the vice president at that time Mike Pence and other government officials including speaker Nancy Pelosi were still in their various offices.

After that incident, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg announced the suspension of Trump’s account on the platform. This was followed by Google chief Sundar Pichai also announcing the deactivation of Trump from YouTube, which is owned by Google.

Jack Dorsey also later announced that the former president has been banned permanently from the social media platform with his connection to the Capitol building invasion.
