Ghana Election 2020: The government of Ghana has confirmed that, it is looking forward to receive a total amount of $30m from Airbus, international aeroplane manufacturing company .

International Court fined Airbus an amount of $3.9 billion in compensation for admitting it paid bribes to various international actors in the company’s deal it made with Ghana.

Records available to Government of Ghana suggest about $30M dollars of the fine is as a result of bribes paid to then government officials in Ghana.

Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a press conference on Thursday 3rd December, 2020 said Government has, since June this year, been engaged with an international law firm with extensive experience in investigations and anti-corruption to see how they might best assist Ghana to repatriate its share of the fines.

Government says it expects that any share of the fines recovered be used exclusively to enhance the capabilities of Ghana’s anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies.

He said Governemt is also collaborating with international investigative agencies on efforts to bring the persons behind the scandal to book.

Already, resigned Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has labelled former President John Dramani Mahama as the ‘Government Official 1’ in the Airbus scandal.

For the meantime, the government says it is looking forward to get $30m from Airbus as bribery compensation.
