Multiple award-winning Ghanaian musicians, composer, and songwriter, Knii Lante has claimed that Ghanaians are biased when it comes to the afrobeats genre.

The renowned musician said most industry players pay more attention to concentrating on feeding the masses with Afrobeat music rather than reggae, dancehall, and other genres.

“…..It depends on how much you are fed. I think there is a bias towards Afrobeat and some other genres and reggae has been relegated”, he said.

Knii Lante also spoke about the impact he has made in the country with reggae music. According to him, he has received a couple of nominations this year thanks to the waves he creates with his songs.

“We’ve dropped about three Reggae songs, Good Self, Something Bad, and now Bestie.

“I think it’s creating a wave because we’ve got some award nominations. We were nominated for 3Music’s Best Reggae Artist of the Year and we’ve also been nominated for the Ghana Naija Music Awards Best Reggae Act and Best Reggae Song category,” he told 3FM.

Nii Lante Okunka Blankson, professionally known as Knii Lante, is a Ghanaian reggae, soul, and Afro-pop musician, songwriter, and medical doctor from Accra, Ghana. He featured on Michael Dwamena’s song titled “Ngozi” which won an award for collaboration of the year in 2007/2008.
