Ghanaian musician, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda has taken her fans and followers down memory lane.

In a recent interview, the DAAVI hitmaker indicated that she never planned to be a musician and she had the interview on JoyNews’ Becky on E-Vibes.

In her submission, she said;

“I didn’t want to become a musician. Honestly, I didn’t know what I wanted to become at all. So I was going to school still trying to figure myself out when I got introduced to music by a friend.

I got a call from my friend after secondary school saying she wanted to form a group, even though I knew my parents will not agree, I accepted the offer and that was where it all began.”

Days ago, MzVee once again called on the various bodies to see to it that the few female musicians in the Ghanaian music industry are adequately supported.

She made this known in a recent submission she made on the popular Ghanaian radio station, Hitz FM.

In her submission, she said;

“It’s very shocking for men to disagree with me whenever I say women are not getting enough airplay and audience.

It is not as if the radio chooses to play more songs from males than females. It is not intentional. I don’t think it is intentional for our airwaves to be choked with Nigerian music. It just happens.

We should be intentional about having an all-female show and stuff. Let’s be intentional about making it work.

The male-female songs airplay ratio is clearly seen and heard. Let’s give the little female artists in this industry some level of support.

If a guy goes to ask for help somewhere, he might get a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. But for a female, she would have to give something in return for the favour.”
