Well, the whole Ghanaian music industry has taken a different turn as artistes try to blend the original Ghanaian genre, Highlife with foreign genres just to fit in the international market.

The Highlife genre has been diluted and mixed up with order genres which you find most upcoming artistes doing these days.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Akwaboah stated emphatically that he does not do trends as some musicians are doing.

According to him, an artiste must be able to do danceable tunes as well as calm tunes and to him, he does both because his fans cannot be used to one style all the time.

“I don’t do danceable songs to get attention from my fans so If I have a message for my fans I feel like doing it in a Highlife form, I will do it and If I feel I have to make it known through a danceable tune, I will do that as well”, he said.

“My songs don’t top the list at once, it takes a day or two. With some of my songs which have not lived to my expectations when I go for shows and perform them, people enjoy and sing along”, he added.
