Angel Kabonu, the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), has said he is surprised Rastafarians are seeking admission into public schools when they could have built their own schools.

He said this following the Achimota school banter between a Rastafarian father and the school authorities. Recall the school authorities initially refused to admit the student on the grounds that he wore dreadlocks instead of the normal hairstyle acceptable by the school.

Upon much deliberation, Ghana Education Service gave a directive, ordering the school to admit the students. Speaking at an interview about the order given by GES, the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Kabonu expressed disgust in it, saying it is inappropriate to mix religious beliefs with education.

He wondered why the Rastafarian community hasn’t built their own school since they have been in the country since Adam.
