Award-winning Ghanaian Gospel musician, Celestine Donkor says she believes the board of the award scheme did not listen to her track “Only You” well.

Celestine Donkor says that she deserved to be included in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards “Songwriter of the Year” list. She lamented over how her track “Only You” couldn’t make it to the aforementioned category.

During an interview on Daybreak Hitz, she said, “It’s quite surprising to me that a song like ‘Only You’ could not make the list. I am 100% sure that there was no proper listening done by the VGMA Board”, she told Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.

Sharing her opinion n the category of Songwriter of the year, Celestine said that some of the songs nominated for the category should not have been there.

“I listened to some of the songs that were nominated in that category, I mean if your ears are on the ground and you really listen to the songs based on lyrical content, you’d know..”

“Not to say I undermined or underestimate the judgment of the Board but I strongly feel some of the songs were not given proper listening”, she continued.

The “Agbboloo” hitmaker hinted that some songwriters Efya, Kofi Kinaata, Akwaboah are often repeated in some categories which prevent other vocalists from getting the chance.

“It is not in my place to replace it with any song. I just feel my song was not very well-listening to”, she added.
