The drill sensation speaking with a group of panelists and music critics stated that he has not penned down or recorded any drill song for the past five months.

According to him, his interest has shifted from his usual drill music to reggae songs and this actually inspired his new song “Soja”, his choice of lyrics and instrumentals for this particular song.

The BET Awards nominee also said that he has compiled the list of songs for his upcoming debut album named “The Villain I Never Was” but he was advised to exclude this particular song by his team head.

However, he was later asked to release this song after his team manager went back and listened to the song over again.

Black Sherif also said that the song “Soja” aims at encouraging people not to give in to the outside negative energies that will sway them off their path and pay more attention to the positive energy they feel inside.

As a reminder, “Soja” was released a few hours ago. The song was released ahead of the singer’s debut album “The Villain I Never Was” on October 6th 2022.
