I predicted the dust of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) will take long to settle and that’s exactly what we are seeing.
All over the world, there is a measure of controversies which shrouds music award schemes but what we have here in Ghana is robbery, literally.
Fante rapper, Kofi Kinaata says he cheated albeit winning two major awards at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Happy FM, the singer said:
“I felt cheated in this year’s Ghana Music Awards because how can I be nominated for Highlife Song of the Year and also a Songwriter of The Year and not be nominated for the biggest category of the night which is the Artist of The Year? That was really disappointing”.
We just hope the organizers would work on their lapses and improve the VGMAs since Ghanaians have recognized it as the only prestigious award scheme in the country.
That is not to suggest that any musician who criticizes Chaterhouse should be considered.
