Jet Li has chipped in an emotional tribute to rapper DMX, born Earl Simmons shortly after he died.

The two world celebs joined forces in two movies, Romeo Must Die and Cradle to The Grave over two decades ago. The death of DMX was regretfully announced on social media hours ago which sent shock waves amongst the Hip-hop fraternity and millions of music lovers across the globe.

The late star was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York on April 2 after suffering a heart att ack. The American actor died at the age of 50. As tributes pour in from different angles, the revered onscreen martial expert, Jet Li took to his verified Twitter account to write;

”Rest In Peace DMX, a true legend. It was truly my honor to work and get to know you. ”, the Hong Kong born actor wrote.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Lydia Forson came in with a special tribute to DMX who’s held in a certain breath as one of the greatest rappers of all time by spitting most of his lines that characterized in his music.

If you grew up in the 90’s on hip hop you’ll feel this loss deeply. #RIPDMX you can rest now.
