Ghanaian highlife/Afropop singer, Dennis Nana Dwamena, well known as Kidi has said that breaking through Ghana’s music industry has not been easy.

According to Kidi, the perception about having a smooth walk into the music industry without any hustle is never true. He stated that it has not been easy for him.

Sharing his experiences with Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, on the topic “Breaking through Ghana’s Rough and tough Music terrain”, Kidi highlighted some challenges he had when he started doing music.

Kidi disclosed how he had to sort permission on different occasions from his parents before he was given the go-ahead to pursue a music carer. He disclosed how he had to play guitar and sing for hours just to be paid GHc50 after performances.

According to Kidi, most of the fans do not see the process most artists go through and term to see the process as smooth. Kidi also debunked the rumor that he came from a wealthy family because of his complexion.

“It’s been a rough journey, its never been easy. Obviously, people only see the made-product, people just see when it’s done. When a song is out, the video is out and you’re looking nice”.
