Hiphop/Hiplife Artiste of the Year and Best Rapper at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Medikal should have anticipated this avalanche of baptism of fire that he has been subjected to since he claimed that he saved Ghana’s dying rap genre.

Medikal recently when he blurted out that he saved the dying rap genre in Ghana four years ago using his expertise to sustain it even further. His statement predictably drew ferocious reactions from several fans who sent him to the cleaners for making a lame, unsubstantiated claim.

Here’s what he tweeted:

4 years ago I saved Ghanaian Rap music from dying and I promise to keep it alive ????????

Now a rapper like Sarkodie who has been hailed as the most consistent and vibrant rapper over the last decade (don’t forget he even VGMA Artiste of the Decade Award) could feel disrespected for the loose talk MDK made although he has openly not talked about it.

Sarkodie’s former protege, Strongman has also responded to the brouhaha in a recent interview. He said, “If you deserve anything the world would know, you don’t have to say it yourself”.
