Jay-Z did not stick around on Instagram for long as he’s deleted his account just a day after creating it.

The rapper casually decided to take the internet by storm this week, creating an account on the platform and following, realistically, the only person anyone needs to follow – his wife, Beyonce.

In just a few hours, the 51-year-old attracted more than 1.9million followers, with Bey, 40, then posting a cute snap with her husband. Alas, the moment was short-lived as Jay’s Insta is now nowhere to be found.

‘Jay-Z deleting his instagram after one day is so funny and he’s not wrong,’ one fan said, while another added: ‘Jay-z created an instagram to post his movie, got over 2m followers in 24hrs then deleted it ? ‘Lol, not Jay-Z deleting Instagram already,’ one more said.

It’s not the first time he’s done a rapid 180 away from social media – in 2015, he created an Instagram account, shared a photo in tribute to Michael Jackson and, after about 14 hours, left the way he came.

This time around, Jay used his first (and only) post to promote upcoming Netflix western The Harder They Fall, which tells a fictional story based on real-life black cowboys from American history.

These cowboys include outlaw Rufus Buck (Idris Elba), Treacherous Trudy Smith (Regina King), Stagecoach Mary, (Zazie Beetz), and Nat Love (Jonathan Majors). The rapper and businessman also used Instagram stories for the first time to share a trailer with a countdown to the release of the film.

Hey, it’s definitely got people talking. Jay is having an incredible few weeks, with the release of his film and also being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

He joined the likes of LL Cool, Tina Turner, Foo Fighters and Carole King who were part of 2021’s class of inductees on Saturday. In a series of rare tweets, Jay-Z told his followers:

‘Thank you to everyone in that video package, I’m definitely gonna cry in the car. ‘In my excitement, I failed to prize, and acknowledge JAZ-O, he was the hometown hero that made the dream tangible. Thank you good man… ok let me lose this password for another year or so. Thank you all again, incredibly humbled by your love.’
