Ghanaian Highlife singer, Martin King Arthur, widely known in showbiz scenes as Kofi Kinaata has taken to his social media to explain to Ghanaians the true meaning of “Ghana”.

Well, some Ghanaians have their own meaning for the name “Ghana” and almost everyone will be able to explain the reason behind their decision to choose such a meaning for the name “Ghana”.

According to history, the etymology of the name Ghana simply means “Strong Warrior King”. This title was given to the medieval Ghana Empire in West Africa but not today’s Ghana. The empire consists of the Republic of Mali, Senegal, Southern Mauritania, and also a region of Ghana.

Some Ghanaians also believe that the name “Ghana” stands for “God Has Appointed Nkrumah Already”. This name came about when the first president of Ghana, Osaagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah fought and won independence for Ghana.

Well, according to Kofi Kinaata, the name “Ghana” stands for “God Has Appointed Nurudeen Already”. He made this known while eulogizing the Belgian club Eupen goalkeeper, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.
