Veteran Highlife musician, Daniel Amakye Dede, professionally referred to as Amakye Dede clocks 64 years today.

Daniel Amakye Dede was born on January 5, 1958, in Agogo, a community located in Ghana’s Ashanti Region’s Asante Akim North Municipal District.

As a performer and songwriter, “IRON BOY” began his career in 1973 with famed Akwesi Ampofo Agyei’s musical ensemble KUMAPIM ROYALS. ‘Ohohoo batani,’ ‘wanware me a,’ ‘Abebi Bewua Eso,’ ‘odo mani agyina,’ and others were hits.

Later, “Abrantie” relocated to Nigeria in search of better opportunities, where he scored a success with “Jealousy Go Shame.” He founded his own band, ‘The Apollo High Kings,’ with Kwame Nash Wilson and Obibini Takyi, after returning from Lagos in the 1980s.

Since his beginning in the music industry, Amakye Dede has released nearly 20 albums and had numerous hits. With authentic highlife music, his music has been able to sound appealing to the newer generations of Ghanaians.

The legend is happily wedded to Mary Amakye-Dede . The pair have four children and has been married for nearly 30 years. Janessa Amakye is the legend’s daughter, despite the fact that little is known about her. Janessa is walking in the footsteps of her father in the music business. .

On the 25th of February 2018, Amakye Dede was installed in as chief in his hometown of Asante Akim Agogo in a colorful ceremony.
