A man identified as Chinwendu Azuonwu has being arrested in Houston, Texas after he pretended to be singer Bruno Mars and scammed a 65-year-old woman of $100,000.

According to the woman, she created an Instagram account in 2018 to find a partner and as time goes on, she feel in love with this person behind a ‘Bruno Mars’ account.

She said she was convinced the person behind the account was the real person since he kept on sending her photos from a Bruno Mars tour and promised to even quit the tour to be with her.

She told investigators the person began asking for money of which she started to drop checks for an alleged ‘friend’ of a different band.

Chinwendu since his arrest earlier this week has being charged with third-degree felony money laundering.
