Born on September 30th 1985 was the American country music singer, Krystal Ladawn Covel Sandubrae but known within the music space as Krystal Keith. She was born to Toby Keith and Tricia Covel in Norman, Oklahoma.

Early Life & Family

Krystal Keith was born into a family of country musicians and started singing at a young age. In 2004, she and her father sang a duet on a copy of “Mockingbird” by Inez & Charlie Foxx that made their chart debut. She entered the family company after earning her degree from the University of Oklahoma by signing to her father’s Show Dog-Universal Music brand and releasing a self-titled debut EP in 2013 that featured the tune “Daddy Dance with Me.” Whiskey & Lace, Keith’s first full-length album, was released in December 2013. Whiskey & Lace included three songs written by Keith as well as co-production from her father, Mark Wright, and Nathan Chapman.

On June 12, 2022, Toby Keith, her father and a seven-time Grammy nominee who was crowned entertainer of the year by the Academy of Country Music in 2002 and 2003 announced his diagnosis of stomach cancer. He was elected into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in November 2021, and his debut track, “I Should Have Been a Cowboy,” became the most-played Country song of the 1990s according to Billboard Magazine.

Her debut chart entry came in 2004 when she and her father sang a duet version of “Mockingbird” by Inez and Charlie Foxx for his album Greatest Hits 2. She joined him in singing the song at the 2004 Country Music Association Awards as well. Keith went to college at her father’s persuasion after this song was released. From the University of Oklahoma, she received her degree. She signed with Show Dog-Universal Music in the middle of 2013. She published a four-song extended play, which features “Daddy Dance with Me,” her breakthrough hit. On the day of her wedding, she gave the song its debut performance as a surprise to her father. The track can be found on her self-titled first album, which was created by her father and Mark Wright. Daryl Addison of Great American Country gave the EP a favorable review and referred to her as a “confident young performer with a great voice.” On September 30, 2013, country radio received “Get Your Redneck On,” Whiskey & Lace’s second song.
