Adekunle Ayomikun, 16 years of age is standing trial at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing a N340,000 from the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) in Nigeria.

According to Naijapals.com, the prosecutor, Insp. Peace Chukwudi revealed that the act is punishable by law under Section 28 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. On Monday, th3 court asked the defendant (Adekunle) to tell the the court how he entered the bank around 4.00p.m during banking hours and locked himself in the toilet.

He said:

“At night, I went to the bulk room of the bank where I saw money; I took N340,000 and kept it in my pocket. I had a lighter with me, when I was trying to exit the bank, the lighter attracted the security guards so I ran back to the toilet and locked myself up again,”

He added that when he finally came out of the toilet, the security guards caught him and did body search where they found an amount of money in the tune of N340,000 on him.

The Magistrate, Mrs K.O. Doja-Ojo, directed him to be remanded at a Juvenile Centre for Boys in Oregun, after he pleaded guilty to the charges against him. The case has been adjourned until April 15 2020.
