Legendary Ghanaian Highlife singer, Rex Omar has compared the era of music to the recent development in the current music industry. According to him, there has been much improvement.

According to the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO), the current trends in the music industry have made it far more than what they experienced some years back.

Rex Omar in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM said that globalization has caused growth in the music industry. He added that it has opened the doors for a lot of artists to make money and also penetrate the market with their music.

Rex Omar said, “because of globalization, there are open doors. If people approach it with a business mind, they can make money”.

The music man however noted that the sole aim of most artists in Ghana is based on the benefits and money they will get but have failed to base their career on making good music. He advised artists to invest in their careers.

“It is also capital intensive so you cannot just get in and depend on good music. It doesn’t work now. You must have your requiste capital, marketing strategy, marketing plan, and everything and if you have the know0how, you can succeed. So it is better than before but then it is also more capital intensive and you have to understand the business aspect”, he said.
