Highlife Singer, Kaakyire Kwame Fosu, popularly known as KK Fosu has lamented over the poor systems of the Ghana Music Rights Organizations (GHAMRO).
Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) is a royalty collection agency within Ghana, that represents the rights of music copyright holders. They are also responsible for collecting royalties for artists whenever their songs are played.

However, a lot of Ghanaian artists have complained bitterly over the poor systems of GHAMRO and also how they have never received any monies from the organization since they started doing music.
In an interview with Doctor Cann on Happy FM’s Saturday Morning entertainment talk show, Showbiz Xtra, he stated that GHAMRO should fix their systems in order to track songs played all around the country in order to collect and pay royalties to artists.
“Musicians are suffering especially the oldies. Most of the oldies don’t know about this digital stuff. All they know is going to register wherever they have been asked to go and waiting to receive their money so we need to help them.”

“I, for instance, am still young and energetic so if I decided to quit music now, I can still do other jobs but the oldies can’t”, KK Fosu said.
KK Fosu however disclosed that he sometimes receives royalties but he gets more money from his music streams. “I received about a 1000 cedis recently and that money is royalty for over a year, not six months like they are saying because it’s been way over six months since I last received it”.
