Multiple award-winning Ghanaian songwriter and singer, Kofi Kinaata has insisted that the fact that he never won the grand prize ‘Artist of the year’ doesn’t make him a failure.
The popular highlife artist made this relationship during an interview with Kastle FM in Cape Coast. He stated that apart from him, there are other artists who have never won Artist of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Award.

The artist told the host, Amansan Krakye, “No as for artiste of the year there are a lot of better artistes out there who never won artiste of the year in their entire musical lifetime.
“Not winning artiste of the year doesn’t mean I have failed because it’s some people who have come out with an awards scheme to reward musicians.

As for artiste of the year by all means one person will win it, so that doesn’t mean people will stop listening or downloading your songs if you don’t win it,” he added.
Kofi Kinaata has won several awards at Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) in the previous years. However, the highlife artist is yet to win the grand prize “Artist of the Year”. He is of the opinion that despite his inability to win the huge category, he hasn’t failed as an artist.
