Renowned Ghanaian highlife musician, George Kwabena Adu who is widely known in showbiz as Kwabena Kwabena has said that music production in Ghana is cheap.

The Ghanaian singer has a different opinion about the record labels managing artists in the country and how people only manage artists just to gain profit. According to Kwabena Kwabena, there are no proper record labels that match up to standards.

There are several record labels in Ghana that manage and produce artists who give good music to their fans. Lynx Entertainment is a well-known record label that manages Kidi, Kwame Eugene, and others. Black Avenue which belongs to D Black manages Sefa, Sackcess Music is a recording label for rapper Sarkodie, Zylofon Music, and other record labels.

However, Kwabena Kwabena sees no record label in Ghana as a proper record label because it does not match up to standards.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s DayBreak, Kwabena Kwabena says people have the perception that buying material things or investing in the artists makes them proper managers.

People do music here like buy and sell… like selling tomatoes for a profit. That is not music and record label. Here people come out saying I have bought him that and all that, if you are a record label, you can invest in an artiste and gain nothing, and you don’t come screaming because you are a record label, he said.
