In 2008, Ghana held the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations opening ceremony which was one of the most memorable events in history.

The opening ceremony which was held at the Accra Sports Stadium on the 20th of January, 2008 was during the African Cup of Nations soccer match, which was between Ghana and Guinea.

It would be recalled that during the ceremony there was a lot of cultural dancing which promoted the rich culture of the country. There were a lot of cultural displays with the colors of the Ghana flag waving in the skies and on the pitch.

During the ceremony, a little girl who was 8-years-old was seen being carried in a palanquin by abled-bodied men across the pitch. The little girl was seen holding the trophy in her tiny arms as she was carried around the pitch.

Mimi Boateng is currently living in the United Kingdom and is a student at the University College London for Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
