A typical Ghanaian is well known for hating another man’s success. Hatred has reigned in the heart of many and as such, we lack the growth and progress we need as a nation. Over the years, the comparison between Ghana and other African countries has made it clear that we lack the love which enables us to give each other the support we need from each other to grow.

A typical example is the Ghanaian music industry. Unlike the Nigerian music industry which seems to be doing way better than that of Ghanaians, the creative art industry in Ghana has only promoted scuffles between celebrities, igniting unnecessary controversies instead of channeling the energy into productive ventures.
The Nigerian A-list artists, Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy have been known to be some of the greatest musicians ever to emerge from Africa yet they always manage to put their differences aside and support each other’s craft by going hand-in-hand. Recently, Wizkid thrilled his fans in Hollywood as he performed alongside his brother, Burna Boy at his show.
The fact is, should Ghanaians adapt to such methods, we will, by all means, see the progress we have been seeking for so many years. However, inasmuch as the country’s growth has been retarded, citizens must be able to sell the good part of the country to outsiders. Just as the Akan proverb goes “Efie biaa Mensah wom”.
An Instagram blogger made a recent post on his page, comparing Ghana’s growth rate to that of Nigerians. making it clear that Nigerians support for each other has been the main motivation behind their success.
Reggie Rockstone who came across the post expressed his displeasure in the comparison made by the blogger, asking him to delete it at once.
