People on social media were astonished when Sam George, a member of parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram, and Sheila Bartels, a member of parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, started criticizing one other online.

This came about after Shiela Bartels claimed that Sam George and his fellow supporters of the anti-LGBTI+ law had been paid to advance a conversation-starting agenda in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM.

Sam George responded to her concerns on social media because he could not stand the viewpoint that his coworker had taken.

The Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament denied the Honourable Colleague’s assertions but said that she sounds more clever when she remains silent in the House than when she remarks.

“Dear Sheila Bartels MP, MP for Ablekuma North, I hope you have evidence that my colleagues and I are being sponsored by the LGBTQI community to push our Bill.

Your silence on the floor of Parliament actually sounds more intelligent than these effusions of yours. I take my work seriously and do not tolerate silly commentary from uninformed persons.

Your allegations are grave and calculated to cause opprobrium for us as sponsors of the Bill. You and your like-minded folks would be lay bare as we commence the debates on the floor. Notice is hereby served.”

Meanwhile, Shiela Bartels wasn’t forbearing to his comment responded fiercely via her Facebook page.

Shiela Partels stated that she won’t come so down to Sam George’s level and that she still adheres to the position she took on the radio.

The MP stated that she is remaining silent since she and her coworkers are supposed to follow the President’s example.

“Sam Dzata George, please respect yourself, we choose when to contribute to an issue and when not to. Do not attribute it to weakness, agreement, or otherwise. I will never stoop down to your uncouth ways of addressing people who disagree with you, it’s unbecoming of an Honorable member.

I believe in the lead of His Excellency the President when he insists that the urgent problems of Ghana are those of development of the economy and improving the quality of life and not on your LGBTQI agenda. My thoughts and support for this position remain the same.

Remember, insults are for those who have nothing of value to give. Again essay, respect yourself,” she said.
