President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed the only condition under which restrictions on public gathering in the country will be eased.
He revealed this when some political leaders called on the government to ease the various restrictions to enable them to start their campaigns as well as other activities.
However, the President mentioned that the only moment he will ease these restrictions is when the number of infections recorded and deaths are low.
Speaking to a delegation from the Anglo traditional Council on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at the Jubilee House, he said;
”I am very confident that we will overcome it. Fortunately for us, the number of people who have died in Ghana is very very small. Each death is unfortunate but never the less, the numbers in Ghana are small and the numbers of people who have been hospitalized as a result of the COVID-19 and are in severe conditions are also small at the moment.
”We pray to God that it continues that way. Because if it continues that way, then it gives us the opportunity to look at how we can ease the many restrictions that are making life for all of us difficult. So that we can go back to more or less normal. It may be a different normal. We may have to be wearing the mask for some time but at least we can be free of some of the other restrictions.”.
